some sounds for your head holes

i’m not entirely sure why and how it took me this long to stumble across this, but the hype machine has been my latest insight to new music (besides researching the bands coming into the state room, of course). but holy crap, it’s the best idea ever. a music blog aggregate site? hell yes. thank YOU. basically, you get the latest blogged music and can listen to it as it’s listed in your search or by popularity. of course, you can “love/like” a song and it gets added to your song list. my favorite part of this new music sharing is the availability of these songs to download. don’t get me wrong, i’m all for supporting artists by buying their music, but i want to be able to sample them. besides, what’s better than sharing the greatness of music digitally if you don’t give a little love to the music lovers of the world? we’ll gladly talk about you.

so, as for me, here’s what i’m diggin on lately:
+florence + the machines – cosmic love, dog days are over
+mumford & sons (yeah they’ve blown up now, but still awesome) —little lion man, white blank page (check it out on youtube in their bookshop acoustic sessions. amazing.)
+toro y moi (he’ll be at urban 3.30) still sound, blessa, talamak
+the rural alberta advantage (they’ll be at the state room 4.19) - stamp, dont haunt this place
+sharon van etten (state room 4.02) – one day
+andreya triana — far closer

enjoy! and, just as a side note, i’m working on gig posters for sharon van etten and the rural alberta advantage. can’t wait.
